Tokyo Model Photographer: Shooting with Gunnar

It's warming up these days in Tokyo, getting to that happy balance of not too hot and not too chilly - perfect for photoshooting. I photographed Gunnar from Iceland, who got in touch with me as he was looking to build up his modeling portfolio. Although this was his first formal photoshoot, I think he did an amazing job looking natural and relaxed in front of the camera. In the middle of our shoot, we randomly came across cheering crowds and found that Paul McCartney was on his way to perform at a concert later in the day! We even spotted him waving to his adoring fans... wow. You never know what craziness you might come across during a shoot! :)

Tokyo Family Photography: Neighborhood Stroll

I had such a lovely time meeting this great family and taking some photos for them in Tokyo before they leave this summer! Ulrica and Marcus were so kind, and siblings Olivia and Elliot were totally naturals in front of the camera. I loved taking a few photos for their sweet dog as well :) Thank you all so much for making this photoshoot a wonderful one!

Tokyo Couple Photography: Dion & Veronica

I first met Dion and Veronica last summer on a photoshoot with friends and family, during which there was a breathtaking surprise proposal in the middle of Shibuya Crossing! What a joy to see them again this year during their post-wedding trip to Japan, and it was wonderful to revisit some of the spots we passed through before, as well as exploring some new parts as well. Veronica brought her wedding dress all the way from Australia, a unique gown that looked absolutely heavenly on her - like a princess! Dion and Veronica are two such kind and easygoing people that I enjoyed shooting for them all the more. Thank you both so much for making the photoshoot wonderful in every way!

The reason we create

Our passions are a way for us to try and quench that unconquerable thirst within us to express and to create, to be understood somehow. Where sometimes words aren't enough, sometimes color and light and shadow come in and tell our souls. Within each image, a world exists, and a world is told through many images together. Rain falling on leaves and into the rippling water, flower petals scattered across the top of a clear plastic umbrella, trees stretching up and up into the sky. Everything is here for our eyes to soak in and our hearts to touch.

Raindrops on Petals

Rainy days continue in Tokyo, even though it's not yet the real rainy season of summer. Temperatures are getting warmer, so it's actually quite nice wandering around under the drizzling gray sky. Walking with Marina, we discovered some colorful and fluffy peony flower bushes, each color smelling a little different - a wonderfully sweet bright pink one, a cucumber-like purple one. We took a little rest with some green tea and a Japanese traditional dessert shaped like a wisteria flower. What a lovely afternoon in the rain.

Tokyo Family & Kids Photography: Colorful Spring

I photographed Jade and her adorable family the other day, and I just love how the photos turned out! Although I normally prefer the lighting of afternoon and early evening, due to Jade's schedule, we met to do the photoshoot during the midday hours. Nevertheless, the lighting worked out great! I love the challenge of experimenting with different types of light at different times of day, and how they affect the look of a photo. Huge thanks to Jade and her family for being the sweetest!
