Tokyo Fashion Photography: Eden Lookbook

A few months ago, I was contacted by Louise about shooting some photos for her fashion label Eden, and I was very excited to have the opportunity to work together. Samantha of Letters Impromptu agreed to model for the shoot, and I'm so happy she did! Outfit after outfit shone on her, and although this was a much longer shoot than our usual ones in the past, she continued to work with unwavering patience, resulting in some beautiful images for Eden's lookbook and website. Eden's style is, self-proclaimed, "a touch of rock star with a shimmering of goddess" - flowing and feminine, yet strong and confident. It was a joy and an honor to complete this project together. Thank you so much, Samantha and Louise!

Please check out the Eden label's newly opened website here: http://www.edenthecollection.com

Don't forget to check Samantha's blog, where she will setting up an Eden giveaway soon: Letters Impromptu

I'd like to share a few favorite shots I took during the shoot:

Tokyo Portrait Photography: Zoe

The late afternoon hour was wrapped in a golden-green glow. At least, that's how it felt as the sun gradually dipped lower and lower beneath the trees, lighting the grass and leaves with its warmth. This is the kind of photoshoot situation I love best - outside during golden hour. Zoe, thank you so much for working with me! It was great to meet you :)

Soft greens - one of my favorite things about being outdoors.

Young green leaves, unfolding for the summer ahead.

Late Spring Days

Late April is here, and cold wintry days are fast melting, passing through the winds of Spring, gradually giving way to summer. This month, I've had quite a few photoshoots, and I've enjoyed them so much. Nothing sings out happiness quite like a gentle, sunny afternoon under waving trees and on open grasses, creating photographs of smiles and connections.

The photo above, by the way, is Wesker in his scratching box. It started with a square storage box I bought from Ikea, originally to store things in, of course. Turns out this cat loves to jump in it and sharpen his nails with the material. In the past, he has been known to nap in it. After some months, the inside becomes a somewhat frightful mess of clawed-up cloth and fallen fur, so the box is renewed from time to time. I believe we're now on his third or fourth box.

This guy reminds me not to take things too seriously. When the going gets tough, one good solution is to curl up somewhere warm and soft, and sleep it off :)
When I'm working and editing photos, he sometimes curls up next to me in my chair. What a good assistant!

Cherry blossom petals have fallen, and new green leaves are pushing through. Grasses by the river silkily extend their reach, rippling in the late afternoon wind. When one thing comes to an end, another begins.

Tokyo Portrait Photography: Ethan

It was a lot of fun spending an afternoon shooting with Ethan, recording some scenes of his Tokyo trip. One thing I love about taking travel portrait photography is that as we're exploring the streets and locations together, I sort of get a new, fresh perspective of this city. Seeing even these familiar places through the eyes of someone visiting, I appreciate the small details and unique points of Tokyo even more. Ethan, thank you so much for a wonderful day of shooting! :)

Tokyo Engagement Photography: Joyce & Phu

I had an absolutely wonderful time shooting for Joyce and Phu on a sunny, perfect Tokyo afternoon. These two went all out and prepared two sets of outfits: yukatas (a light type of kimono worn in summer, especially during summer festivals in Japan) and Eeyore & Pooh costumes! Wow, this makes them totally cool in my book :) I just love how relaxed and at-ease this session felt, thanks to their great attitudes and willingness to just have fun. Joyce and Phu, thank you so much for a lovely afternoon! A huge congratulations to the two of you, and I wish you all the happiness in the world!

Tokyo Portrait Photography: Kathryn & Ben

Kathryn and Ben were the most wonderful people to work with, and so much fun to photograph. The first location they chose was a cemetery. Awesome, right? :) Really, the area was peaceful and quiet, a nice oasis from the rush and bustle of central Tokyo; we even came across a few lasting blossoms. It was an honor for me to accompany Kathryn and Ben as we took a stroll through some memorable places for them. Seeing how comfortable they are with each other and how radiant in love they are... you could easily tell that it filled me with joy too, if you saw how widely I was smiling from behind the camera. Kathryn, Ben, I'm so glad to have met you both. Thank you so much for everything!
